Short-Term Therapy for OCD, Excoriation, Trichotillomania, Panic Disorder and Phobias
If you suffer from any of these issues, it can be exhausting and all-consuming. There can be anxiety, depression and shame surrounding obsessions, compulsion, urges and avoidance efforts. As your therapist, I understand what its like to have to deal with these symptoms and the associated feelings. Know that there is a way out! If you feel ready to start doing the work to gain control of your symptoms and living the life you want, short-term therapy can help. I use a combined method of ERP (exposure-response prevention), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ACT (acceptance commitment therapy) and EMDR (eye-movement reprocessing and desensitization) with "homework" for you in between sessions to help you gain momentum and start to see changes within our time working together.
Short-Term Therapy for Couples
Couples therapy can be a great resource if you and your partner feel like you keep repeating the same argument, falling into the same negative emotional cycle, have an important decision to make (such as separation, starting a family, getting married, etc.) or have a specific issue you would like to work on. Short-term, solution-focused couples therapy offers an opportunity to carve out some time to zoom into the issue at hand and find solutions. We will use sessions to gain clarity on what it is you want and need as individuals and a couple, and figure out how implement changes that will be meaningful to both of you through practical tools. Outside of sessions, you may have "homework" to practice what was discussed.
Short-Term Discernment Therapy
Sometimes a decision weighs so heavily on you that it feels like it occupies all of your mental space. This can lead to all sorts of uncomfortable feelings, such as anxiety, depression, confusion, and inability to enjoy the present moment. Sometimes you just need answers and direction. Short-term discernment therapy helps you gain clarity and confidence surrounding important life decisions, such as a career change, a move, ending a relationship or starting a new one, etc. I utilize thoughtful Socratic questioning techniques, acceptance commitment therapy and genuine curiosity, compassion and support to help figure out the path that feels right and makes the most sense for you, and feel confident in your choice to take steps in that direction.
We’ll begin with a free 15-minute consultation to determine if we're a good fit. From there, we'll have an initial trial session (50 minutes) focused on taking a brief history, clarifying your goals, coming up with a plan, creating a schedule and answering any questions you have. This session is billed at the standard package rate per session ($140) and will go towards package balance if you decide to move forward.
After our first session, you will have up to 2 days to secure the rest of the sessions with full payment of remaining balance ($700). Payment installations may be available upon request.
After each session, you will receive a short write-up that will give you a summary of what we worked on, including ways to implement change outside of sessions and practice the skills we discussed, along with other informational material, if relevant.
Scheduling - Weekly, Biweekly, Accelerated
The typical scheduling for short-term packages is 1 session per week over 6 weeks. Depending on availability in my practice, I may be able to offer one accelerated option at a time for clients who prefer a more intensive pace, with six sessions over three weeks (2 sessions weekly), and one biweekly option for clients who need more time in between sessions. We will determine the scheduling plan within the initial session.
Next Steps
If short-term therapy sounds like a helpful option for you, please feel free to call or email with a few sentences about the support you’re looking for. Please allow up to 2 business days for me to respond to book a consultation call. Even if you're not sure, I encourage you to still reach out. I am happy to let you know whether short-term or standard therapy would be a better option for the issue(s) you describe and provide a next step option either way.
